Manuel Spiller

Master of Landscape Architecture, PhD student in Geography and Environment at Western University in London, Canada

Manuel Spiller’s research focus aims at recreational infrastructure, studying nature connectedness, and accessibility issues tied to wealth. He combines his professional knowledge from working as an outdoor guide, nature interpreter, environmental educator, and in ecosystem restoration with his expertise in Landscape Architecture, merging planning and ecology for sustainable recreation. To understand human-nature connectedness, he considers both Western Sciences and North American Indigenous Knowledge to inform beyond the empirical, academically validating Traditional Ways of Knowing through reflexivity and reciprocity.
