Professor of Civil Law and IT Law at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts

Prof. Dr. Céline Helmschrot has been Professor of Civil Law and IT Law at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts since March 1, 2025.


She previously worked as a lawyer at the law firms GÖHMANN Rechtsanwälte in Hanover (2021 to 2025) and Hogan Lovells in Hamburg (2019 to 2021). In data regulation matters, Prof. Dr. Céline Helmschrot is an expert for digital projects. In addition, she has particular legal expertise in the areas of technology, internet and digital content (direct marketing, website compliance, apps, webshops, e-commerce, social media). Prof. Dr. Céline Helmschrot is a regular research consultant for the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Federal Network Agency.


Prior to this time, Prof. Dr. Céline Helmschrot was a research assistant to Prof. Dr. iur. Andreas Wiebe, LL.M. (Virginia) at the Institute for Business and Media Law at the Georg-August-University Göttingen until 2019.


Prof. Dr. Céline Helmschrot studied law at the Georg-August-University and did her doctorate on web tracking under Prof. Dr. iur. Andreas Wiebe, LL.M. (Virginia) at the Institute for Business and Media Law at the Georg-August-University Göttingen.
